After getting ready, travel 260 kilometers (9 hours) to Manali, passing through Kullu Valley, the Sutlej River, and the Beas River. (surrounded by the Shivalik Ranges of the Himalayas, which are renowned for its apple trees. Arrive in the evening in Manali.

Day 04 Manali - Rohtang Pass - Gulaba - Manali

Enjoy the breathtaking trip to Rohtang Snow Point, which is located at a height of 3,980 meters, and take advantage of the snow (Rohtang Pass is closed on Tuesdays). Return to Manali in the evening.

Overview

Shimla

Shimla is flanked to the north by Mandi and Kullu, to the east by Kinnaur, and to the south by Solan and Sirmaur. Shimla is well-known as a tourism hub in India, and it is one of the top ten favourite entrepreneurial sites in the country. Shimla was designated as British India’s summer capital in 1864, and after independence, it became the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla derives its name from the deity Shyamala Devi, a manifestation of the Hindu deity Kali. Shimla, a big and expanding city in India, is home to various research institutions. The city boasts a considerable number of temples, as well as structures from the colonial era that are fashioned in Tudorbethan and neo-Gothic architecture.

Kufri

Kufri is a small hill station in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district, 13 km from the state capital Shimla on National Highway No.22. Kufri derives its name from the word “Kufr,” which means “lake” in the native tongue. Kufri, the highest peak in the surrounding region, includes a Himalayan Wild Life Zoo with rare antelopes, felines, and birds, including the Himalayan Monal, Himachal Pradesh’s state bird. During the winter, a meandering trail becomes a popular ski course. The Shimla region, including Kufri, was previously part of the Kingdom of Nepal until being given to the British Raj as part of the Sugauli Treaty.

Chandigarh

Chandigarh is the capital city of two states: Haryana and Punjab. The name Chandigarh translates as “The Fort of Chandi,” after a historic temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess Chandi named Chandi Mandir. It is also known as The City lovely because of its lovely surroundings, centre grid of gardens, and diverse flora. Chandigarh was India’s first planned city after independence, and it is worldwide renowned for its architecture and urban design. The city has projects created by architects such as Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Jane Drew, and Maxwell Fry, and it ranks first among Indian States and Union Territories in the country in terms of per capita GDP.

Manali

Manali in the Beas River Valley is a beautiful hill station nestled in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley. It is located about 270 km north of the state capital, Shimla with a population of approx. 30,000. The small town is the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and from there over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand. Manali and the surrounding area are of great significance to Indian culture and heritage as it is said to be the home of the Seven Sages. Tourism is the most significant segment of the town’s economy as tourist attractions of this hill station includes Hindu temples, Buddhist monasteries and adventure sports.

Kullu

Kullu is the capital of Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu District. It is situated on the banks of the Beas River in the Kullu Valley, north of Bhuntar Airport. Kullu is a wide open valley formed by the Beas River halfway between Manali and Largi. The Kullu valley is located between the Lower and Great Himalayan ranges. Kullu Valley is well-known for its natural beauty and beautiful hills covered in pine and deodar forests, as well as extensive apple orchards. The Beas River’s path is a sequence of magnificent, clothed with forests of Deodar, towering above trees of Pine on the lower rocky slopes.
